Recap: Madisonville Mustangs vs. Connally Cadets
If The Madisonville Mustangs were feeling good off their 46-7 takedown of the Gatesville Hornets last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Madisonville fell to Connally 22-16. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Madisonville in their matchups with Connally: they've now lost five in a row.
Ty Williams threw for 76 yards and a touchdown. Lorenzo Johnson was his top target, picking up 61 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Jyrin Burns rushed for 75 yards.
Connally can attribute much of their success to Kobe Black, who rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Black really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run.
Madisonville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Connally, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Madisonville will look to defend their home field on Friday against Salado at 7:00 p.m. Salado is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Connally, they will head out on the road to face off against Robinson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Robinson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 467th, while Connally is ranked 192nd).
