Volleyball Recap: St. Catherine's Comes Up Short

St. Catherine was the 3-1 winner over Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Saints took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots on Thursday. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association scored at least 20 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-20, 21-25, 25-23.

Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association was led to victory by Emma Smith and Sophia Gits. Smith had 22 assists, while Gits had 13 digs and two assists. What's more, Gits also posted a -100% hitting percentage, which is the highest she's achieved over her last two contests.

St. Catherine's now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-3 record this season.

St. Catherine's has already played their next match (against Midlothian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association, they will square off against St. Anne's-Belfield at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
