Softball Recap: Spring Woods Finds Home Field Redemption Against Austin

There's no place like home for Spring Woods, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Austin Mustangs on Friday by a score of 15-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Kylie Leatham was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Sophia Cisneros was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Spring Woods hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Spring Woods pushed their record up to 4-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Austin, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Spring Woods wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-1 loss against Cypress Ridge on the 1st. As for Austin, they are taking a road trip to square off against Sterling at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
