Basketball Recap: Copper Canyon Takes a Loss

Copper Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Estrella Foothills Wolves 71-14. While losing is never fun, the Aztecs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Wolves are ranked 63rd).

Estrella Foothills' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adrina Wilson, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Amenhauser, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 11 points and seven boards.

Copper Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Estrella Foothills, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Copper Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-14 defeat against Cactus Shadows on the 3rd. As for Estrella Foothills, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Tonopah Valley on the 3rd.
