Softball Recap: Klein Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Klein nor Magnolia West made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Bearkats walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Mustangs. This was a revenge game for the Bearkats: when they faced off against the Mustangs on April 1st, they had to take a 8-7 loss.

Madilyn Schultz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mikayla Holcomb was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Brooke Hall was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Klein pushed their record up to 17-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Magnolia West, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Klein nor Magnolia West have any future games scheduled.
