Softball Game Preview: Haughton Buccaneers vs. Parkway Panthers

Haughton has gone 8-2 against Parkway recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Haughton will welcome Parkway at 6:00 p.m. Haughton will be strutting in after a victory while Parkway will be coming in after a loss.

Haughton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Simsboro with a sharp 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Haughton got a massive performance out of Charlee Prothro, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those two runs gave Prothro a new career-high. Kylie Small was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Prothro wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Haughton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Simsboro didn't got any hits.

Meanwhile, Parkway suffered their closest defeat since March 18, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Captain Shreve by a score of 9-7. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Gators since on Thursday.

The victory made it two in a row for Haughton and bumps their season record up to 11-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Parkway, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Haughton came up short against Parkway when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 14-11. Can Haughton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
