Basketball Recap: Lilliana Bertram's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Johnson County Sports Association over UME Preparatory Academy

It was a good run, but Johnson County Sports Association unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the UME Preparatory Academy EAGLES an easy 39-14 win. The Lions lost against the EAGLES in their previous head to head back in November of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 31-30 score last time.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilliana Bertram, who posted two points and eight rebounds. Bertram has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Shepard, who earned three points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Johnson County Sports Association's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for UME Preparatory Academy, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Johnson County Sports Association won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Grace Classical Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for UME Preparatory Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Newman International Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2026.
