Basketball Recap: Oliver Neumann's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vail Christian over Buena Vista

Vail Christian lost against Buena Vista back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Vail Christian Saints received a blow as they fell 50-34 to the Buena Vista Demons.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Oliver Neumann, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 16 points and six boards. Jack O'Shaugnessy was another key player, putting up four points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks.

Buena Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaden Schell, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Schell has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Pace, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 14 points.

Vail Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Buena Vista, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.

Vail Christian has already played their next match, a 54-33 loss against Custer County on the 12th. As for Buena Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-39 victory against James Irwin on the 13th.
