Football Game Preview: American Heritage Stallions vs. Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars + How To Watch

After each having a week off, the American Heritage Stallions and the Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:30 p.m. on October 3. American Heritage's defense has only allowed nine points per game this season, so Somerset Academy - Canyons' offense will have their work cut out for them.

Last Friday, American Heritage was just a hair shy of victory and fell 15-14 to King's Academy. The contest marked the Stallions' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, American Heritage saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Carter Wasko made 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss). Johanthan Cesar also set a new season-high mark in receiving yards with 101.

Meanwhile, Somerset Academy - Canyons fell victim to Archbishop McCarthy and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Mavericks 41-0. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Mavericks are ranked 131st).

Having lost for the first time this season, American Heritage fell to 4-1. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

American Heritage might still be hurting after the 35-14 defeat they got from Somerset Academy - Canyons in their previous matchup back in October of 2023. Thankfully for the Stallions, Tristian Johnson (who rushed for 151 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries, and also picked up 45 receiving yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
