Football Recap: Del Campo Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Del Campo took on Antioch on Friday. The Cougars received a blow as they fell 37-20 to the Panthers. The Cougars' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Del Campo still got an impressive performance from Bryce Smith, who rushed for 118 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. Smith's longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Antioch found their leader in sophomore Joshua Mason, who rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 35 yards and a pair of TDs.

Del Campo now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Antioch, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Del Campo will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Placer at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. This will be the Cougars' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Antioch, they will welcome Nevada Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
