Softball Game Preview: Thurston Colts vs. Wilsonville Wildcats

The Thurston Colts will take on the Wilsonville Wildcats on Friday. Thurston is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

Thurston is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out West Albany 15-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Colts have posted since April 29th.

Syren Ferguson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Daphnie Heckel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Thurston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 18 consecutive games.

Wilsonville came out on top against Silverton on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Foxes 8-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Wilsonville's victory bumped their record up to 16-12. As for Thurston, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5.
