Basketball Recap: Pierson Takes a Loss

Pierson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Southampton Mariners, falling 102-26. Having soared to a lofty 65 points in the game before, the Whalers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Southampton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex Franklin led the charge by putting up 25 points and six rebounds. Franklin is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. Tyson Reddick was another key player, scoring 19 points.

Pierson's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Southampton, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

Pierson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southampton, they will welcome Mattituck at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Southampton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
