Basketball Recap: Elijah Taylor Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat East Chapel Hill

Riverside-Durham's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-55 win over the East Chapel Hill Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 66-61 last Monday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverside-Durham to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Taylor, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 19 points. The dominant performance also gave Taylor a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Noam Cohen, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, East Chapel Hill still got an impressive performance from Makai Rhodes, who went 7-for-14 en route to 17 points and six boards. Rhodes is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Samuel Smith was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 10 points and seven rebounds.

Riverside-Durham has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-15 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 43.4% in those games and 27.2% outside of them. As for East Chapel Hill, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.

Riverside-Durham has already played their next match, a 74-57 victory against Northern Durham on the 13th. As for East Chapel Hill, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats take on the Tigers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in East Chapel Hill's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
