Baseball Recap: Sterling Silver Knights vs. Gloucester City Lions
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Sterling and Gloucester City have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Silver Knights' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions a 4-0 shutout. The Silver Knights haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Vaughn McVeigh, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Gloucester City off the board. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for McVeigh.
At the plate, Anthony Gogolski was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Sterling's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Gloucester City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Sterling will venture away from home to square off against Riverside at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Gloucester City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
