Softball Recap: Northwest Vikings vs. Gering Bulldogs
While Northwest put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Gering. The Northwest Vikings put the hurt on the Gering Bulldogs with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by six runs or more this season.
Northwest let Libby Loman and Reyse Zobel loose on the outfield. Loman fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3, while Zobel fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most home runs Loman has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Jolie O'Hara, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Northwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in 12 consecutive contests.
Northwest's win bumped their record up to 28-2. As for Gering, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-12.
