Basketball Recap: Central Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Central Christian Academy lost against Marion back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Central Christian Academy Lions took a 40-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marion Warriors.

When it comes to explaining why Central Christian Academy lost, don't look at Laila Hernandez. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points along with three steals and three blocks. That's the most points Hernandez has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Corinne Rauch, who earned seven points and seven boards.

It was another big night for Kenna Wesner, who went 7-for-11 en route to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals for Marion. Wesner is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taryn Kraus, who scored ten points.

Central Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Marion, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Central Christian Academy will take on Berean Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marion, they will face off against Classical at 7:00 p.m. on February 28th.
