Football Recap: Christian Ormandy Key Part of Team Effort in Trojans Win + How To Watch

Garner proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 31) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs 28-26. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Garner to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Ormandy, who rushed for 62 yards and one TD, and also threw for 110 yards while completing 73.7% of his passes. That's the most rushing yards Ormandy has posted since back in November of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Garner was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 230 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards in four consecutive matches.

Another reason for the win was Garner's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They got some further help from Ryan Hebert: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made eight total tackles.

When it comes to explaining why Southeast Raleigh lost, don't look at Tydreke Powell Jr.. Despite the final result, he threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in one rushing score. 94 of Powell Jr.'s passing yards were hauled in by Tyrus Whyte, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Garner's record now sits at 4-1. As for Southeast Raleigh, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
