Basketball Recap: Norton Science & Language Academy Takes a Loss

Norton Science & Language Academy lost against Calvary Baptist back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Norton Science & Language Academy Rockets were beaten by the Calvary Baptist Cougars 77-19. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1385th, while the Cougars are ranked 530th).

Norton Science & Language Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Christian Cuevas and Gustavo Roldan. Cuevas posted six points, while Roldan put up six points.

Leading Calvary Baptist to victory were Medard Dabire and Nathan Moussa. Dabire went 7 for 8 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds, while Moussa went 8 of 9 en route to 16 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Parada, who earned nine points.

Norton Science & Language Academy dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Calvary Baptist, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Bethel Christian the next time they take the court. Calvary Baptist will head out to face Bethel Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Norton Science & Language Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
