Basketball Preview: Axtell Wildcats vs. Lawrence-Nelson Raiders
The Axtell Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Axtell has not done well against the Wolves recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Axtell walked away with a 60-52 victory over the Wolves.
Meanwhile, Lawrence-Nelson beat the Warriors 40-28 on Friday. The win was just what Lawrence-Nelson needed coming off of a 55-27 loss in their prior match.
Axtell is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Lawrence-Nelson, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Axtell suffered a grim 54-33 defeat to the Raiders in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Axtell, Krayton Kucera (who scored 16 points along with five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
