Basketball Game Preview: Meridian Mustangs vs. Deshler Dragons

The Meridian Mustangs will be taking part in a tournament against the Deshler Dragons at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Meridian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Tri County on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Meridian was outmatched by Tri County and fell 65-29. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-13.

The losing side was boosted by Jaylee Sobotka, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Deshler came up short against Diller-Odell on Friday, falling 46-24. The Dragons were down 40-13 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Deshler now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Meridian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Meridian came up short against Deshler in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 46-34. Can Meridian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
