Basketball Recap: Hale Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northwestern, Hale was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Grundy County/Newtown-Harris Panthers by a score of 41-29. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrew Fordyce, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. Preston Tovrea was another key player, putting up six points and six boards.

Hale's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Hale will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hardin-Central at 7:00 p.m. on February 2, 2026. Grundy County/Newtown-Harris and Northwestern will compete for holiday cheer at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
