Basketball Recap: Blackman Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blackman). They walked away with a 63-52 victory over the Mount Juliet Golden Bears on Wednesday. The Blaze's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Blackman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Layla Hall, who went 7-for-17 en route to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Those five assists gave Hall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amirah Herring, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 16 points and four steals.

Blackman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Blackman's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Mount Juliet, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.

Blackman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 39-36 loss against Beech on the 2nd. As for Mount Juliet, they have also already played their next matchup, a 71-41 win against Overton on the 2nd.
