Avery Robinson made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-6. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Katie Scavone and Mallory Kelly did most of the damage at the plate: Scavone went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Kelly went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Scavone has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridget Mazzo, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
Cardinal Gibbons kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Holly Springs had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 9-5. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 17, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Holly Springs pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cardinal Gibbons, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
