Soccer Recap: Mt. Vernon Takes a Loss

Despite a strong season so far, Mt. Vernon has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They lost 3-0 to the Jesup J-Hawks on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Mt. Vernon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Jesup are ranked 32nd).

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 9-4-3. As for Jesup, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1-1.

Mt. Vernon wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Independence on the 6th. As for Jesup, they will be playing at home against West Delaware at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jesup are facing West Delaware at the right time seeing as West Delaware are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
