Softball Recap: Eunice Drops Season-High Score on Lagrange

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eunice). They never let the LaGrange Gators get on the board and left with a 23-0 win on Wednesday. The Btlng Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Mika Fontenot and Madelyn Smith made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Fontenot tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Smith tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Fontenot got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Smith got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Eva Sattler was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Lailynn Simon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Eunice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .771. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Eunice's record now sits at 10-15. As for LaGrange, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Eunice will host Crowley at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Gent have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.9 runs per game on average), something the Btlng Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for LaGrange, they will head out to challenge Singer at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
