Basketball Recap: Wellington-Napoleon Takes a Loss

Wellington-Napoleon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Lawson Cardinals 61-27. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 34-20 back in November of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Wellington-Napoleon lost, don't look at Brilynn Zykan. Despite the final result, she posted seven points and five rebounds. Cali Russell was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Wellington-Napoleon's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Lawson, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Wellington-Napoleon will challenge Cameron at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lawson, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lawson Cardinals take on the Oak Grove Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
