Softball Game Preview: Perrydale Pirates vs. Kennedy Trojans

Perrydale hasn't had much luck against Kennedy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

Last Friday, Perrydale didn't have quite enough to beat Country Christian and fell 6-4. The match marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Perrydale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addie Parr, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Kennedy didn't have quite enough to beat St. Paul on Friday and fell 10-8.

Emily Ruef was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Annaliese Schacher was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Perrydale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Perrydale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .376. However, it's not like Kennedy struggles in that department as they've averaged .399. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Perrydale came up short against Kennedy in their previous meeting on Thursday, falling 19-14. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
