Baseball Recap: Clinton Makes It 11 in a Row at Home

Clinton came tearing into Monday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Pender Patriots with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Dark Horses, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Cooper Sessoms made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brennon Bell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Clinton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Clinton's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pender, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Clinton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-4 victory against Harrells Christian Academy on the 22nd. As for Pender, they have also already played their next game, a 10-8 win against Lakewood on the 22nd.
