Baseball Game Preview: Circle Christian Centurions vs. Jones Fightin' Tigers

The Circle Christian Centurions will challenge the Jones Fightin' Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Circle Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Circle Christian narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lake Mary Prep 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Centurions.

Jon Waldrop was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Waldrop was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, DJ Williams was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Circle Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-10 when he doesn't). Carson Gore was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Jones came up short against Colonial on Thursday and fell 10-5. That's two games in a row now that the Fightin' Tigers have lost by exactly five runs.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 5-12. As for Jones, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
