Basketball Game Preview: Oakesdale Nighthawks vs. Sunnyside Christian Knights

The Oakesdale Nighthawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Sunnyside Christian Knights at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Oakesdale's defense has only allowed 26.9 points per game this season, so Sunnyside Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Oakesdale was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Colton on Thursday. Oakesdale blew past Colton 60-30. The Nighthawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sunnyside Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 40-31 win over DeSales on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Irish: they've now won eight in a row.

Sunnyside Christian pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points over those games. As for Oakesdale, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.

Oakesdale won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, slipping by Sunnyside Christian 36-35. Does Oakesdale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sunnyside Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
