Basketball Recap: Westwood Longhorns vs. Hillcrest Vikings
The Westwood Longhorns pushed their score all the way to 67 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their rough 90-67 defeat to Hillcrest might stick with them for a while. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (61), Westwood still had to take the loss.
Hillcrest got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Allen out in front who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 assists. Allen is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Mario Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Hillcrest, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westwood will take on the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hillcrest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully the Longhorns like a good challenge. As for Hillcrest, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. City University School of Liberal Arts will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Vikings are ranked 117th).
