The Richard Pioneers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Richard has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while St. Mary Catholic Central will arrive with five straight wins.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Richard, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-26 loss to Cranbrook Kingswood. While losing is never fun, Richard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 465th, while Cranbrook Kingswood is ranked 151st).
Meanwhile, St. Mary Catholic Central put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Milan 54-18 at home. While fans of St. Mary Catholic Central might be used to big wins, the 36-point margin marked the team's biggest victory yet this season.
Richard has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for St. Mary Catholic Central, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
