Valders's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since September 20th.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Valders got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 17-25, 15-13.

Megan Hochkammer paced Valders' offense, picking up nine kills. Hochkammer got some help from Audrey Wagner and her 13 assists. Finally, Hochkammer was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Several Galloping Ghosts players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brenna Matthies, who had 12 digs and two assists.

Valders' win bumped their record up to 22-11. As for Kaukauna, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-21 record this season.

Valders wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Luxemburg-Casco on the 18th. As for Kaukauna, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Shawano Community on the 18th.
