Baseball Game Preview: West Cabarrus Wolverines vs. Lake Norman Wildcats

West Cabarrus is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will challenge the Lake Norman Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row dating back to last season, West Cabarrus turned things around against Northwest Cabarrus on Thursday. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 12-7.

West Cabarrus got a big performance out of Will Hollmeyer, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, Hollmeyer posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Parks, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Lake Norman hadn't done well against Hough recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lake Norman skirted past Hough 4-2. The Wildcats' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

The team relied heavily on Michael Busa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Carson Beaver, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Lake Norman hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Lake Norman's record now sits at 3-0. As for West Cabarrus, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
