Baseball Recap: Somerset's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Somerset barely beat Ellsworth the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Kane Donnelly, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (four). Rece Anderson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Somerset was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Somerset's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Ellsworth, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Somerset will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
