Softball Recap: Hillcrest Drops Season-High Score on Skyline

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hillcrest). They blew past the Skyline Eagles 25-7 on Thursday. The Huskies have beaten the Eagles the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.

Hillcrest got a massive performance out of Nyomi Houston, who scored five runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Houston a new career-high. Bailey Terry was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI and two runs.

Houston wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Hillcrest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for Hillcrest: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.4.

Hillcrest pushed their record up to 3-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Skyline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Hillcrest is taking a road trip to challenge Stansbury at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Skyline, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Park City at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
