Volleyball Recap: Mater Bay Academy Takes a Loss

Mater Bay Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against the Cushman Cougars, falling 3-0. The Rays were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-12, 25-12.

Cushman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Martina Mouawad, who had ten digs and two aces. Mouawad has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last four times she's played. Kelly Lopez was another key player, getting 19 assists and three aces.

Mater Bay Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Cushman, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Mater Bay Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cushman, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Academy for Innovative Education on the 3rd.
