Basketball Recap: Pembroke Hill Takes a Loss

Pembroke Hill played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 64-22 loss at the hands of the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-9.

It was another big night for Landri Schaffer, who went 10 of 19 en route to 25 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals for Gardner-Edgerton. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Schaffer has scored at least a third of Gardner-Edgerton's points. Morgan Beasley was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Pembroke Hill has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Gardner-Edgerton, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Pembroke Hill will welcome St. Teresa's Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Teresa's Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Pembroke Hill surely won't give up without a fight. After both having extra time off, Gardner-Edgerton and Shawnee Mission East will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another on February 4th.
