Football Game Preview: St. Joseph Academy Crusaders vs. Calvary Chapel Grizzlies

The St. Joseph Academy Crusaders are taking a road trip to face off against the Calvary Chapel Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, St. Joseph Academy put up the most points they have all season last Friday. They blew past Francis Parker, posting a 60-8 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Calvary Chapel, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat River Springs Charter School 58-20. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 38 points or more this season.

St. Joseph Academy better focus on containing Uriah Figueroa and Gilbert Samano as the pair were huge in Calvary Chapel's win. Figueroa gained 247 total yards and four touchdowns, while Samano rushed for 188 yards and four scores while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Samano is now averaging an impressive 103.8 rushing yards per game.

Calvary Chapel's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for St. Joseph Academy, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-1.

Everything came up roses for St. Joseph Academy against Calvary Chapel in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 56-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
