Baseball Recap: Idaho Falls Comes Up Short

Idaho Falls dropped their record down to 8-17 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Hillcrest Knights by a score of 3-2. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 14-3.

Idaho Falls saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makai Ferguson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for Hillcrest, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-14. The game was the first time they have beaten Idaho Falls on their field since April 4, 2024.

On Hillcrest's side, Andrew Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. Johnson also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Knights are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Cole Croft was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Hillcrest is 3-1 when Croft posts two or more runs, but 5-13 otherwise.

Idaho Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hillcrest, they are taking a road trip to square off against Bonneville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Bees have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
