Preview: Aztec vs. Gallup
Aztec will take on Gallup at home at 7:00 PM on Friday. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.
It's was a good run, but Aztec finally witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 35-56 walloping at Kirtland Central's hands. On a positive note, senior Zach Taylor put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 130 yards on the ground and accumulated 295 passing yards. If you haven't heard Taylor's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in Aztec's past three games.
Meanwhile, Gallup have to be hurting after a devastating 0-34 loss at the hands of Bloomfield last Friday. Gallup were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-28.
With the two teams each stumbling in off of a defeat, both will be hungry for the victory. With four turnovers, Aztec had trouble holding onto the ball. We'll see if Gallup exploit that vulnerability.
