Baseball Recap: Falfurrias Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Falfurrias and Hebbronville, and Falfurrias kept the tradition alive. The Fightin' Jerseys walked away with a 5-1 win over the Longhorns on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Fightin' Jerseys: when they faced off against the Longhorns last Thursday, they had to take a 5-3 defeat.

Derek Chavera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Falfurrias' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryan Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Falfurrias' win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Hebbronville, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-10-1.

Falfurrias didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-3 win against Hidalgo on the 26th. Hebbronville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
