League recap: Louisville tops Kemper County to extend winning streak

Louisville added to the longest winning streak in 3A Region 4 this week by beating Kemper County, 42-6. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.

Aberdeen and Winona played the most contested game in the league this week, with Aberdeen eventually emerging with a 26-21 victory.

Nettleton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dakota Cruber threw for 255 and 4 touchdowns and Jordan Smith had 97 yards receiving. On the ground Laonta Nabors chipped in 90 yards. Levert Jernigan helped Nettleton's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 79 yards.

He was 10-18 with 1 interception.

Smith was the best wideout in the league this week as the Tigers defeated South Pontotoc. Smith tallied 3 receptions for 97 yards. Jernigan helped Nettleton's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 79 yards.

Nettleton's Cruber and Jernigan led 3A Region 4 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Cruber has thrown for 2,523 yards this season, while Jernigan has 65 catches for 945 yards. The Tigers' Teon Thomas leads the league in rushing yards with 676.

Jernigan of the Mike Scott's team's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 55 receiving yards in this week's game against Louisville to get there. So far this year, he has acheived 65 catches for 945 yards.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Tigers and M.C. Miller's team face off next week.

As it stands, the Wildcats are in first, while Nettleton is in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Louisville takes on the Tigers. The Wildcats have allowed 53 points this season, while Nettleton has given up 219. Louisville allowed 6 points last week as it beat the Wildcats.

The Wildcats took down Kemper County 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Wyatt Roberts threw for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 33 yards in the win.
