Basketball Recap: Mt. Carmel Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against El Capitan on Thursday, Mt. Carmel came back down to earth. The Sundevils lost to the Helix Highlanders on the road by a 51-35 margin on Friday. The contest marked the Sundevils' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Leading Helix to victory were Trey Cavazos and Jason Black. Cavazos shot 50% from the field to rack up 22 points, while Black posted 11 points along with six boards and four steals. Cavazos' big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Kristian Giordano also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Helix, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Mt. Carmel is taking a road trip to square off against Santa Fe Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Sundevils will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for Helix, they have already played their next matchup, a 50-37 win against Scripps Ranch on the 6th.
