Football Game Preview: Patton Panthers vs. Hibriten Panthers

Patton is 1-6 against Hibriten since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Patton will look to defend their home field against Hibriten at 7:30 p.m. Patton has given up an average of 34 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Patton's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against East Rutherford on Friday. They took a blow against the Cavaliers, falling 35-0. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 379th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 146th).

Meanwhile, Hibriten came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Hilltoppers with points to spare, taking the game 45-26.

Hibriten's win came from a few key players Patton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Elan Lipford, who rushed for 123 yards, and also threw for 152 yards and two TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Dk Mitchell, who rushed for 70 yards and three scores.

Hibriten's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Patton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Patton was taken down by Hibriten 62-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2021. Can Patton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
