Softball Game Preview: Roma Gladiators vs. Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots

Roma is 1-8 against Mission Veterans Memorial since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Roma Gladiators will host the Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Roma came up short against Rio Grande City on Tuesday, falling 15-2. The Gladiators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Madelyn Garcia was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Mission Veterans Memorial and Pioneer had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Mission Veterans Memorial lost 9-3 to Pioneer on Monday. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Diamondbacks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Mission Veterans Memorial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabrielle Garza, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Roma's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Roma has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mission Veterans Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
