Softball Game Preview: Charles Henderson Trojans vs. Pike Road Patriots

The Charles Henderson Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Pike Road Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Charles Henderson is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Charles Henderson came up short against Dothan on Tuesday, falling 7-1.

Charles Henderson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Janazia Cantlow, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Cantlow has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Pike Road got the win against Montgomery Academy on Wednesday by a conclusive 14-4. Considering the Patriots have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Abby Olesen tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Pike Road got a massive performance out of Ameria Anderson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Anderson has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Milton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple.

Pike Road kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.8.

Pike Road's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 19-22. As for Charles Henderson, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Charles Henderson might still be hurting after the 18-1 loss they got from Pike Road when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
