Basketball Game Preview: White Oak Vikings vs. Havelock Rams

The White Oak Vikings just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Havelock Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Havelock took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on White Oak, who comes in off a win.

White Oak is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Richlands by a score of 57-47 on Tuesday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

White Oak's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aariel Jemison, who posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Jemison is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sidney Ferguson, who put up 11 points along with six assists and six boards.

White Oak was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Havelock didn't have quite enough to beat Southwest Onslow on Tuesday and fell 31-28.

The win got White Oak back to even at 2-2. As for Havelock, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

White Oak didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Havelock in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, but they still walked away with a 50-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
