Basketball Game Preview: Oglethorpe County Patriots vs. Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes

The Oglethorpe County Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oglethorpe County will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Friday, Oglethorpe County took a blow against Rabun County, falling 71-39. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while the Wildcats are ranked 49th).

Meanwhile, Monroe Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by Winder-Barrow and fell 78-41. The matchup marked the Purple Hurricanes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Oglethorpe County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Monroe Area, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Oglethorpe County was taken down by Monroe Area 93-58 in their previous meeting back in January of 2016. Can Oglethorpe County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
