Baseball Recap: Nogales Comes Up Short

Nogales suffered their closest loss since April 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Azusa Aztecs by a score of 11-9. The Nobles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Aztecs earlier this season, when they won 4-1.

Xavier Ortega made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. David Mora was another key player, going 2-for-6 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Nogales has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season. As for Azusa, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-9.

While Nogales had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
